Margaret Carlin Burkarth, beloved wife of Richard D. Burkarth, entered into eternal peace, to be with the Lord her God on November 2, 2016. Richard was the love of her life and best friend for 51 years. Margaret was born February 18, 1933 in New Britain, CT. She was the daughter of the late James and Anna (Wile) Carlin. Margaret leaves behind two loving daughters, Marlene Casella and her husband Jim of Burlington, MA and Marilyn Bantz and her husband Christopher of Plainville, CT. Four beautiful granddaughters Juliana and Allison Casella of Burlington, MA and Isabella and Ashleigh Bantz of Plainville, CT and a precious grandson, Mitchell Casella of Burlington, MA. Margaret’s grandchildren were the light of her life. Each one brought her joy and love in their own special way. Margaret leaves a brother-in-law Kenneth Rund of New Britain, CT and a sister-in-law Helen Burkarth of Madison, CT. She also leaves her nieces and nephews; Lisa Burkarth and Robert Burkarth of CT, Kathleen Hajjar of NH, June Babel of VT, Alan Zavalick and his wife Missy of MA, Ann Atwood and her husband Bruce of NH, Raymond Rund and his wife Joann of CT, Richard Rund of CT, Beth Jimenez and her husband Manny of AZ, Daniel Carlin and his wife Pam of MN, Brian Carlin and his wife Jan of MO. Sixteen great nieces and six great nephews, four great-grand nieces and four great-grand nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her twin sister, Eileen Rund of New Britain, CT, her sister Mary Carlin of New Britain, CT, her sister and brother-in-law Agnes and Edward Zavalick of MA, her brother and sister-in-law Bill and Jeanne Carlin of NH, her brother-in-law Robert Burkarth of Madison, CT and her nephews Paul Burkarth of CT and Edward Hajjar of NH. Margaret resided in Berlin and Palm Beach Gardens, FL. She has spent her winters in Florida since 1965. Margaret graduated from New Britain High School in 1951 and worked at New Britain Machine Company for 17 years. She leaves many dear friends, especially Ann Thibodeau, Jane Gordon, Margaret Odishou, and Doris Chabot. In 1965 Margaret married her dearest friend and moved to Berlin to settle down. They found a quaint little country church, Sacred Heart, in East Berlin, where she was a parishioner for over 50 years. Margaret was a member of the Ladies Guild and the Forever Young Club. Margaret and her husband loved to travel to California, Vermont, New Hampshire, Bermuda, Grand Cayman Island, Scotland and England. Margaret was the most gentle soul that ever lived and loved all with never a bad word about anyone. Her kindness will be missed by all who had the good fortune to know her. Margaret was born an angel but now she has her wings. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday (November 7)10:00 am at Sacred Heart Church 48 Cottage St. East Berlin. Burial will follow Maple Hill Cemetery, 1164 Worthington Ridge, Berlin. Visitation will be Sunday (November 6) from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Square New Britain.
