Helen J. (Kerelejza) Ausanka, 96, formerly of New Britain, died Wednesday night at Southington Care Center. Born in New Britain, the last of 13 children, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Pauline (Koshefska) Kerelejza and lived most of her life in New Britain. Prior to moving into the Southington Care Center , she had been at the Orchards of Southington. She was the wife of the late John J. Ausanka, who died Oct. 20, 2000. A graduate of New Britain High School, she worked many years at Union Manufacturing, was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, the Ladies Guild of the church and the New Britain Council of Catholic Women. Mrs. Ausanka is survived by her son John and his wife Virginia Ausanka of Southington, two granddaughters Robin and her husband Douglas Otis of Wethersfield, and Kristin and her husband Leif Cefalo 0f Bedford, MA, three great grandchildren Jack Foster Otis, Allison Elizabeth Ann Otis and Will Patrick Cefalo and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 8:30 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin sq. New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church (corner of East St. and Newington Ave). Entombment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery Garden Mausoleum. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John the Evangelist Church 655 East St. New Britain, CT 06051. The Ausanka family would like to thank the staff of Southington Care Center for their excellent care that Helen received.
