Obituary of Jean Angelo
Please share a memory of Jean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jean Rose Angelo, age 102, beloved wife of the late Carl M. Angelo, passed away peacefully at Hartford Hospital on Friday, June 10, 2011, after a brief illness.
Born in Hazleton, Pennsylvania on February 8, 1909, she was a daughter of the late Margaret (Mastroianni) and Frank Principe. After her marriage to Carl, she moved to New Britain and was employed by the Holbrook Company until her retirement. A devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Jean truly enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends, especially during the holidays. She was known for her uncanny ability to create a sumptuous meal, sometimes at a moment's notice, without ever referring to a written recipe. Jean was also a very talented seamstress who could create any dress or costume for her daughter and, later on, her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Carole Manjoney, son, Robert Angelo, daughter-in-law, Simone Angelo; grandchildren, Carole McDonald, Robert Manjoney, Lauren Martin and husband, Dr. David Martin, Mark Manjoney and partner, Dr. Vincent Santillo; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Matthew and Amanda McDonald, and Andrew and Luke Martin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband and parents, Jean was predeceased by her son, Joseph Angelo, and son-in-law, Dr. Robert Manjoney; brothers, Clarence Prince, Joseph and John Stracuzzi, sisters, Mary Lesante and Rose Ladigan.
Funeral services will take place Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 10 am at Saint Ann's Church, 47 Clark Street, New Britain. Friends may greet the family Saturday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 at Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Square, New Britain. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make donations to Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
