Edward T. Cosgrove, 83, died on May 24, 2011 at the New Britain General Hospital after a brief illness. He was the son of Thomas and Sarah Ellen (Starr) from New Britain, CT. Mr. Cosgrove was born in New Haven, CT on July 18, 1927 and moved to New Britain as a young boy. He attended local schools and graduated with the class of 1947 from the High School. His education had been interrupted because of the time he spent in the Navy in the Pacific War Arena during World War II.
He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish and deeply appreciated the spiritual guidance afforded him. He was an active member of the BPOE organization and enjoyed the companionship shown him by the general membership. Ed spent most of his career working for the Tuttle and Bailey Manufacturing Company retiring as Forman in his division. He was an avid fisherman spending many hours along the Connecticut shore. He especially cherished the time he spent with family members at Clinton Beach. He was affectionatly called "the best breakfast chef" by his adoring nieces and nephews. Ed enjoyed many things but his great love was his family and friends and precious time spent together. His genuine interest in people made him many friends and his character was defined by his unconditional love for others. He will remembered as a humble man with a wealth of Irish wit and the beautiful twinkle in his eye and he recounted many of his Celtic tales.
