Obituary of Mary Ann Kern

Mary Ann (Huber) Kern, 69, formerly of New Britain, died Sunday (Oct. 23, 2016) in Washington, DC. Born in New Britain, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Sucher) Huber, she moved to Maryland three years ago. She was a teacher in the New Britain School System for many years, mainly serving at Chamberlain Elementary School. She enjoyed attending water aerobics classes and taking care of her flower beds. She was also known to attend many plays and musicals with her numerous friends. Mary Ann is survived by her daughter Catherine Kern of Germantown, MD; her son Robert and his wife Katie Kern of New Britain; three grandchildren Addison, Matthew and Charlotte Kern. Funeral services will be held Monday (Oct. 31) at 11:00 AM at First Congregational Church of Southington 37 Main St. Southington, CT. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery New Britain. Visitation will be Monday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to made to Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure (www.abc2.org).
