Obituary of Marie L. Boccuzzio

Please share a memory of Marie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marie Anne (Lattarulo) Boccuzzio, 89, of New Britain was called to be with the Lord she loved on February 27, 2011, surrounded by her loving children. Marie was the beloved wife of Lawrence, "Larry" for 58 years before his passing in 2004. Born on January 1, 1922, Marie was the daughter of Vito Lattarulo and Anna Lattarulo Ladiso. After her father's death at age 6, Marie was raised by her mother and step-father, Michele (Michael) Ladiso, her "Pa", to whom she was forever grateful for having him in her life. A long-time member of the St. John the Evangelist Parish family and the New Britain Council of Catholic Women, Marie was a dedicated volunteer who held many Board positions participated in numerous Church Bazaars, Ladies Guild and Council Fundraisers, and, of course, Sundays Bingos. Encouraging her children's growth, Marie served as a leader for the Girl Scouts, Brownies and Boy Scout Troops. She was also an active member of the Chamberlain School P.T.A. for more than 10 years; happily entertaining in the P.T.A.'s Annual Follies. While working as an experienced dressmaker at a local shop , Marie shared her talent as a seamstress with New Britain High School's Annual Music Revue; sewing a variety of costumes and elaborate curtains that continue to grace the auditorium stage. Marie thrived helping others whenever she was able, but moreover she loved being a part of something bigger than herself. The word no, was rarely the response when someone needed her; whether asked to paint a room, sew a special occasion dress, divide and share her beautiful flowers or bulbs, dig a vegetable garden, babysit, house sit, pet sit, cook an awesome pot of sauce, or bake a bushel of Italian cookies, she was always willing to help. Marie loved life, her devoted children and grandchildren, generations of adoring relatives and abundance of cherished friends, cheering on her favorite New York Yankees, trips to Vermont and most of all, her summers with Larry at Hammonasset alongside her sister-in-law and brother, Mary and Dominic Lattarulo and their loving children. Long time friendships were cultivalted during their summer stays, and with the passing of each winter, she anxiously anticipated their heartfelt reunions. Inseparable, would best describe the bond between Marie and her friend Rita Lepore, a sister-like kinship that was unbreakable until Rita's passing. Wonderful moments shared with Rita and Joe became treasured memories, as heart-warming stories were often told of their unforgettable trips to Vermont. Throughout the Marlin-Rockwell years, "Mer-Mer" and Rita bowled on a variety of leagues but she often reminisced of the Saturday evenings during the 1960's spent bowling with her siblings and their spouses. Deepley saddened by this great loss, Marie is survived by her loving and devoted daughters, Peg Foligno, and her husband Danny of New Britain, with whom she made her home, Maryanne Herman and her husband,Donald of Bristol and Nancy Romano of New Britain, and her sons, Vito Boccuzzio and his wife, Nancy of Southingon, Lawrence Boccuzzio of Plainville and Richard Boccuzzio of Southington, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Mathew and Alexander Romano, Larry Boccuzzio, Stacey Boccuzzio and her son, Angelo, Jennifer Boccuzzio, Jeffrey Boccuzzio, his wife Michelle and their children, Jessica, Angela, and Allison, three sisters-in-law, Ann Rizza, Catherine Spatafora, and Catherine Lattarulo, as well as, generations of loving nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind James Romano, Sandy Nadolny, Penny Murphy and Fran Boccuzzio who were dear to her. Marie was predeceased by her husband Lawrence, her twin babies Marie and Lawrence, three brothers, Gregory, Frank and Dominic Lattarulo, three sisters Angelina Cistulli, Mary Maleno and Julie Gardino, and recently her dear sister-in-law, Mary Lattarulo, with whom she was especially close.
