OBITUARIES William G. Pringle, Sr., 90, of West Hartford, died Friday Night at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Born in Manitoba, Canada, he was raised in Belmont, MA and graduated from Boston University. He returned to Canada, where he joined the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II, was commissioned and fought in the North Atlantic and in the invasion on D-Day. He made thirteen round trips to France, to bring troops and he was aboard a captured German U-Boat. After the service, Bill began his career in financial planning. He was known as a pioneer in the Mutual Funds Business and was one of the original Certified Financial Planners in Connecticut. Over the years, he was an active volunteer with the Newington Children's Hospital, the Kiwanis Club and the Red Cross. While he and his wife Polly Shepard (Peterson) Pringle lived most of their life together in West Hartford and West Simsbury, they retired to Sherman, CT and spent their summers at Spruce Harbor in Stonnington, ME. Bill's three passions in life were his wife Polly, Green Pond and Spruce Harbor. In addition to his wife, Mr. Pringle is survived by two sons Thomas and his wife Andrea Pringle ofAvon, William and his wife Cheryl Pringle of Manchester; four grandchildren Ian , Sarah, Laura, and Kathryn Pringle. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 P.M. at Asylum Hill Congregational Church 814 Asylum Ave. Hartford. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Residence Fund at Macauley Home or to Boston University School of Management.
