Obituary of Lexie F. Sardilli

Lexie F. (Hamel) Sardilli, 75, of Newington, died Tuesday (Jan.4,2011) at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. Born in New Britain, the daughter of the late Onesime and Rose (Luke) Hamel, she has been a Newington resident since 1964. A graduate of New Britain High School, she also graduated from E.C.Goodwin Technical School and became an accomplished dress maker and worked many years at Lord and Taylor. Along with her beloved husband and best friend of 53 years, Henry, she was part owner of Southington Travel, and was a member of the Holy Spirit Church and their Ladies Guild. Lexie loved to travel, and cruised all over the world, including the Baltic Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, Alaska, Bermuda, the Caribbean, and the Panama Canal. She especially loved to travel to Las Vegas to take advantage of the sparkling shows. Family get togethers were the joy of her life, especially Christmas Eve, when the entire family gathered. After retiring from Lord and Taylor, Lexie raised her family, which were the joy of her life: her daughter Pamela and her husband Wayne Stanforth of Southington, her son Thomas Sardilli of No. Haven; the loves of her life, her grandchildren Suzanne and her husband Dan Sisson, Jennifer Stanforth, Bryan Stanforth, Dan Sardilli and Melissa Sardilli and the special glow in her life her great granddaughter Jazmin. Mrs. Sardilli is also survived by five brothers Charles Hamel of Barkhamsted, Joseph and his wife Mary Hamel of Niantic, Albert Hamel of New Britain, David and his wife Joyce Luke of East Hampton and Patrick and his wife Joan Hamel of New Britain; two sisters Patricia D'Amato of Middlefield and Malvina and her husband Joseph Lavigne of Farmington and several nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Spirit Church, Newington. Burial will follow in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington. Visitation will be Friday at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Spirit Church 183 Church St. Newington, CT 06111. The family would like to send a special thanks to the nursing staff on C-5 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, for their care.
