Michael Gashgorian, Sr, passed away Tuesday July 27, 2010 as a result of an automobile accident. He is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 50 years Sandra Gashgorian; three sons Michael Jr. of Newington, Mitchell of Cromwell and Marcus of Middletown; a daughter Melissa Terrio and son in law Charles Terrio III and their children Jake and Brooke Terrio all of Cromwell. Michael leaves behind his sister Margaret Odishoo of Kensington, a sister Rose and her husband Edward Kaplan, Sr of Enfield; along with many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. Michael was born May 18, 1939 to the late Veronica and Sarkis Gashgorian in New Britain where he remained a longtime resident prior to building a home for his family in Cromwell. Michael spent most of his career working in the car industry as a parts department manager at several local car dealerships, the longest being employed for 35 years at Crest Pontiac-Cadillac of Newington. Michael was a talented carpenter and craftsman, he graduated from E.C. Goodwin Technical School in 1957. He built his family home in Cromwell from the ground up with the help of many loving friends and family. Michael was a loving and devoted husband and father. He loved and adored his two grandchildren and spent much of his time with them. Michael enjoyed life, if it meant building furniture, watching an old movie or just spending time with his family. Michael shared with his children and grandchildren his love and devotion for the Boston Red Sox. Michael enjoyed cars his whole life and passed that on to his son Michael Jr. and together they enjoyed classic cars and attending local car shows. Michael was a friend to many. He was a friendly soul, when you met him you felt as if you've known him for years. Michael was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Friends and family are invited to a service at the First Church of Christ, 830 Corbin Ave. New Britain, Saturday at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain.
