OBITUARIES Robert A. "Bob" Cabelus, 63, of Plantsville, died Thursday at the Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford, the son of the late Thomas and Shirley (Allen) Cabelus, he lived in New Britain, many years in Kensington and the last 22 years in Plantsville. In his youth, Bob was a well known athlete, playing softball, baseball and football. Later, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting and was an avid Red Sox fan, and loved to watch the UConn mens's and women's basketball games. He was a committee member of the New Britain Sports Hall of Fame. He was employed for 22 years at Stanley Works and later worked at Sherwood Tool. Bob is survived by his wife Deborah (Beard) Cabelus, his son Stephen J. and his wife Erin Cabelus, of Bridegport, his daughter Suzanne C. and her husband Taras R. Kootz of Portland; a granddaughter Rowyn S. Kootz; three sisters Shirley and her husband Jack Judge of East Haddam, Kathy and her husband Dennis Bradbury of Woodstock, Georgia, and Dianne and Ed Connors of Old Lyme; his father-in-law William Beard of Plantsville; two nieces Denise Jones and Doree Bradbury and a nephew Craig Judge and several great nieces and great nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 A.M. at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. Burial will follow in Wonx Spring Cemetery, Plantsville. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
