Obituary of Mildred Schmitt

Mildred C. Schmitt, 79, wife of the late Dr. Frank J. Schmitt, died early Wednesday Morning at Brittany Farms Health Center. Born in West Virginia, she grew up in Akron, Ohio and came to New Britain in 1955. She had been employed for many years at the Brittany Farms Health Center as an administrative assistant and as the Director of Volunteers. A longtime member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, she served as a Minister of the Eucharist, a member of the Ladies Guild and was on the board of the New Britain General Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Schmitt is survived by her son Craig Schmitt and his wife Mary of New Britain; her daughter Cheryl Schmitt of Newington; two granddaughters Jennifer and Desiree. She was predeceased by her daughter Lynn Schmitt. Funeral services will be held Saturday 9:00 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Francis of Assisi Church 1755 Stanley St. New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Because of the kind and compassionate care Millie received as a patient, her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Brittany Farms Health Center 400 Brittany Farms Road New Britain, CT 06053, in her memory.
