Hedwig (Unghire) Eselunas, 89, of New Britain, died early Friday morning at an area convalescent home. Born in Somerset, PA, she lived most of her life in New Britain and was married to the late John J. Eselunas, Sr. She had been employed for 16 years at Skinner Valve retiring in 1983. A member of St. Andrews Church, she was an avid bowler, a fan of the UCONN Girls basketball team and the New York Yankees. Mrs. Eselunas is survived by her son John Eselunas, Jr. and his wife Lorraine, her daughter Nancy Barrett and her husband Thomas, all of New Britain; two grandchildren Jennifer and her husband Paul Webster and Matthew Barrett; a great granddaughter Julia Rose Webster; three brothers Edward Unghire of Ivoryton, Felix Unghire of New Britain and William Unghire of Newington; a sister Helen and her husband Arhtur Kahrman of Palinville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday 9:00 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Church (Corner of East St. and Newington Ave.) New Britain. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrews Church 396 Church St. New Britain, CT 06051.
