Obituary of John A. Bylek Jr.

John A. Bylek, Jr, of Berlin, died Saturday (March 23, 2024) at the Bristol Hospital. Born in New Britain, the son of the late John A. Bylek, Sr. and Edna (LaFlamme) Bylek, he grew up in Berlin. He was employed by the Town of Berlin in the maintenance department as a painter.   He was a member of the East Berlin Volunteer Fire Department, the Sons of American Legion and in his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, traveling, working around his house and loved all pets, especially his dog, Keesha.

John is survived by his wife, Karen (Tobias) Bylek, his son Jesse and his wife, Michele Bylek; two sisters, Charlotte Potanka, Shelley Bylek, her partner Jack Mitchell and his mother Denise, three brothers, Ray and Maria Bylek, Richard Bylek and his partner Deb Grant and Tim Chapman and his wife, Kathy;  his brother-in-law, Danny Majewski and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by two sisters. Joann Majewski and Amy Nelson.

A visitation will be Tuesday (April 2, 2024) from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, with a service at 6:30 PM.  Burial will be private in St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
