Obituary of Judy T. Kozikowski

Please share a memory of Judy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Judy T. Kozikowski, 64, of Berlin, Connecticut, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday February 27, 2024, at The Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. Born in Hartford, the daughter of the late Ronald and Hermance (Gourneau) Marquis, she grew up in Enfield but has resided in Berlin since 1984. She was the loving wife of Eugene Kozikowski for over 41 years.

She was a fighter. Despite facing challenges, she always kept a positive outlook and exuded positive energy. She was a devoted wife and mother and was incredibly proud of her three children and two grandchildren. She put her career to the side as a manager at Travelers to raise her children, and later in her career, she spent time working for the Berlin Public School system, which she cherished interacting with and making an impact on children’s lives.

She was quick-witted, with an amazing personality and infectious laugh that made her the center of attention in the room. She had not only been our family’s rock, but she served this role to many friends as well. She was someone you could always count on; for her wisdom, advice, honesty or simply an ear to listen to. While she was a mother to three, she was an additional mother to many, as there was a warmth to her that words cannot do justice in describing.

In her leisure time, she treasured spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed trips to the beach and family vacations, doing giant puzzles that entirely took over the dining room table, and somehow always winning money at the casino playing slots. Simply put, she was a winner.

Our hearts are broken that her grandchildren will not be afforded the opportunity to have her with us as they grow up, but through stories and sharing her wisdom and love, they will always be reminded just how much they meant to her. She was a special person who made an impact on anyone she came across, and now as our family and friends move forward, we will always have an angel overlooking us.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Eugene Kozikowski (Berlin) and her three children; Jason Kozikowski (Berlin), Jennifer Zelek and husband Ryan (Berlin), and Justin Kozikowski (Berlin), along with her two grandchildren Austin and Amelia. She is also survived by her brother Jerry Marquis and wife Karen (Broad Brook), her sister Nancy Dighello (Enfield), and brother David Marquis and wife Lorrie (Davenport, FL), and by many beloved nieces and nephews, other family members, and all of her friends.
