Ernest P. Horvath, 91, peacefully past onto his next life July 20, 2011. Ernest was born in New Britain, on March 8, 1920, where he resided his entire lifetime. He honorably served his country at the rank of 2nd Lieutenant as a member of the Army Air Corps in the European Theater during World War II. Ernest married his soul mate, Wanda, on Valentine's Day, 1953 and has been a devoted, loving husband and father for 58 years. He worked for Hartford Distributers and was a proud member of the Teamsters Union. Ernest was an active member of Saint Peter's Church in New Britain serving as the Men's Club president and council member for many years and was a member of the New Britain Retreat League for over 50 years. He was the recipient of the Saint Joseph Medal of Appreciation in March 2005. His passions were family, church, New Britain history, UCONN basketball and the Red Sox. Ernest is survived by his devoted wife, Wanda (Humaj) Horvath, daughters Ernestine McGrath and her husband Patrick of Cheshire, Dr. Jane Horvath of West Hartford, son, Paul Horvath and his wife Pamela of Rocky Hill, a grandson James McGrath of Cheshire along with many nieces and nephews. The world was a better place with Ernest in it. Calling hours will be Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter Church New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VNA Health Care Hospice Benefit 103 Woodland St. Hartford, CT. 06105 or to St. Peter Church 98 Franklin sq. New Britain, CT 06051. Members of St. Peter Society will meet Friday evening at 6:30 P.M. for a prayer service.
