Mr. Dominic Maurice DelConte, husband of JoAnne D'Amato DelConte of Kensington, CT passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Hospital of Central Connecticut on July 16, 2011. Born in New Britain he was the son of Domenic and Josephine (D'Agata) DelConte. Educated in local schools, he was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Fairfield University. He achieved his Masters Degree and sixth year certificate from Central Connecticut State and Southern CT State. He began his teaching career in New Britain and then in Berlin, CT as a school counselor at Berlin High School. He spent many enjoyable and productive years helping thousands of students in a career that spanned over 40 years. Mr. DelConte was well known in the community and took pride in his Italian heritage. A member of the Sons of Italy, Angelo Tomasso Sr. Lodge, he was an officer and took part in their charitable endeavors for many years. A man of deep religious faith, he served many years as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Maurice Church where he was also a Charter member and regular communicant. Dominic married JoAnne D'Amato of New Britain in 1988 and they reside in Kensington with their children, Matthew DelConte , a senior at Trinity College and Christina DelConte, a junior at St. Joseph's College. He took great pride in his children and their accomplishments. He was predeceased by his parents, and his brother Thomas DelConte and sister Sophie D. D'Avirro. In addition to many friends, colleagues, former students and his wife and children, he is survived by his sister Angela Troy of Yonkers, New York, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 10:00 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at St. Maurice Church 100 Wightman Road New Britain. Entombment will follow in in the St. Mary Cemetery Mausoleum, New Britain. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Members of the Sons of Italy, Angelo Tomasso, Sr. Lodge will meet Tuesday evening at 6:30 P.M. for the ritual. While the expression of sympathy through the use of flowers is appreciated, the family respectfully asks that a memorial contribution be made to the "Dominic M. DelConte Scholarship Fund' to be established at the Berlin High School. Please send contributions in care of Attorney Stephen L.
