Obituary of John Tormay

John E. (Jack) Tormay, 85, of New Britain, died Thursday at home. He was the son of the late John C. Tormay and Josephine (Orsie) Nielsen. Born in New Britain and a lifelong resident he had been employed as a district sales manager for many years at California Products of Cambridge, MA. After retirement, he then was a manufacturer's representative for the ArroWorthy Brush Co., West Babylon, NY retiring from there in 2011. Jack was a talented musician. In his younger days, he traveled with his band and played trumpet and bass with Al Gentile's and Chubby Clark's Bands. He was a past president of the Connecticut Paint Salesman's Association. He also served in the U.S. Army. Among his hobbies, Jack enjoyed golf, boating and spending time with his family and his cherished grandchildren. He had many friends from his work as a salesman and considered them his extended family. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Mr. Tormay is survived by his wife Jaye (Gagliardi) Tormay, two sons John A. Tormay and his wife Beth of Canton, CT; Jay C. Tormay and his wife Patty of Plantsville, CT; two grandsons Kevin Tormay and Joseph Tormay; two granddaughters Bonnie Jaye Tormay and Kimberly Lynn Tormay; and a great granddaughter Madison Jolie Tormay. He was predeceased by his sister Mary Baker. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to his caregivers from Keep Me Home.
Funeral services will be held Monday 9:00 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Jerome Church 1010 Slater Road New Britain. Entombment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery's Mausoleum.
