Althought I was only with the Westover family for a short period of time, I got to speak with Newf every time I was on base for the monthly drill. He was always positive and upbeat and he always looked for the good in people or the situation. I was shocked to learn of his death and I wish his family well during this time of loss and mourning. Rest in peace Newf.

I initially got to know Frank just by shopping at Big Y, then found out we had some mutual friends. Been shopping at Frank's store for quite a while now, and he always greeted me with a hearty hello & a story to tell! I will miss him. Truly one of the nicer people I've ever met. My condolences to his immediate, military, & Big Y families...............BOB MAIKOWSKI, New Britain

Condolences to family and friends on the passing of a true gentleman. For many years, Francis proudly served with many of us as a member of the USAF Reserve. His knowledge, integrity, commitment and quiet demeanor made him a role model for countless airmen that met him. It didn't matter if he was covered in mud or sweat, put into stressful situations or even injured, Francis never complained or spoke a bad word. "NEWF" - you will be missed by all of us lucky enough to have served with you.

Words are not enough. Let there be no doubt that they don't make them like "The Newf" anymore. If it had to be done yesterday... He was there. If it had to be taught... He was there. If nobody knew... He was there. If you needed somebody to listen... He was there. The list is infinate. No matter where he travels now... If you look hard, I'm sure you'll find him. He will fly with us in spirit forever. We miss you brother.

Newf was one of the first people I met when I joined the squadron. His positive nature was obvious from the start and made it enjoyable to serve. Until the last couple of months before he retired it was not too easy to tell that any day for him was different than the one it followed. When it was obvious that he was not in the best of health, he did not let it slow him down from pitching in to help his fellow airmen. Newf was an inspiration.

"Newf!" was always how I greeted Francis during the 16 years we served together at Westover. Yelling that to him as a greeting seemed an accurate reflection of his ever-present positive attitude and energy. The picture posted here is how I always think of him - smiling and ready to dive into any undertaking. I was proud to serve with you Newf. We will miss you.
