Catherine M. Scalise (Katie) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family after a short illness.  Katie was predeceased by her husband, William B. Scalise (Bill) former Berlin Police Chief.  Katie’s children include William, his wife Barbara, Mary Loretta, John, and his wife Lisa, Thomas, Kathleen, and Eileen Hebert, and her husband Jeffery.  Her grandchildren include Jonathan, Ariel, Ryan, Jennifer, Steven, Dana and Thomas. Katie was one of nine children and is survived by two siblings; Virginia Lombardo of New Britain and Lorraine Gibson of Old Lyme.        

Katie worked for Kelley Girls for many years until Northeast Utilities hired her full time.  She retired from Northeast Utilities after several years as a secretary where she developed many friends who stayed in touch throughout retirement.

Katie was a long time member of Sacred Heart Parish in East Berlin.  She participated in many volunteer activities and also enjoyed spending time at her beach house in Niantic.

Family and friends may call at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq., New Britain, from 9:00 to 11:00 on Thursday, July 30.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Church, 48 Cottage St., East Berlin at 11:30.  Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain.
