Saundra Dykun Davis, lovingly known as Sandy to all who knew her, sadly passed away on February 13th, 2026. She leaves behind not only a family that adored her but also a legacy built on love, strength, and countless accomplishments throughout her lifetime.
Predeceased by her parents Michael and Josephine (Sue) Dykun, her stepmother Ann, and her stepdaughters Karen Seidel and Sandra Schroeder, Sandy is survived by her devoted husband David Heckman; sister Tina Perry and brother-in-law Chuck Perry; and her four loving daughters Heidi Davis, Melissa Babinski, Patricia Davis, and Heather Ferguson. She will also be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Kelsey Scarfo, Matthew Perez, Amanda Seidel, Brooke Ferguson, Kayce and Cory Babinski, Madison and Alanis Charette, and her great-grandson Weston Steck.
Born in 1951, in Paducah, Kentucky, Sandy grew up in Branford, Connecticut, where she led a busy and fulfilling life. A woman of great resilience, she embraced the challenges of raising six children as a single mother with grace, determination, and boundless love. She graduated from Branford High School in 1969 and went on to earn her degree in Child Education from SCSU in 1973.
Throughout her career, Sandy worked tirelessly at McKesson Medical Surgical, yet she always made time for her family—her true passion and pride.
Sandy’s warmth and creativity lit up every occasion. She made every celebration special with thoughtful, personalized gifts, a wealth of knowledge to share, and her ever-present camera, ready to capture cherished memories. A devoted reader who could finish a book a day, her love for stories filled her life and home with joy. Her talent for crafting—whether sewing dresses from scraps or creating beautiful scrapbooks—leaves behind treasures that will be cherished for years to come.
Those who knew Sandy will remember her for her generosity, her unwavering spirit, and her signature touch of teal, her favorite color that perfectly reflected her vibrant personality and love of life.
Her presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
Funeral services for Saundra will be held on Friday (Feb 20) with a visitation from 4:00 – 6:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 6:00PM at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd, Newington CT 06111.
