January 17, 1938 – December 21, 2025


 


Ernest D’Agata passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025.  He was a lifelong resident of New Britain and a graduate of E.C. Goodwin Tech.


Ernie proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.  He then became a long-time employee of Connecticut Light and Power in Berlin CT and served as the Secretary of IBEW Local 457.


Ernie will be remembered for his love of his family, cooking, hunting, and woodworking and was an avid UConn Huskies Basketball fan enjoying watching the games with his wife.  He will also be remembered for his volunteering at the National Iwo Jima Memorial in New Britain/Newington.


Ernie was preceded in death by his father Anthony D’Agata, mother Mary D’Agata, sister Rose Bennardo, and brothers Tony D’Agata, John D’Agata, and Mike D’Agata, and his grandson William Brian King, Jr.


Ernie is survived by his wife Phyllis (Maxim) of 63 years, his daughter Denise King and husband William of Berlin, and his cherished granddaughter Julianna.  He also leaves behind his sister, sister in-law and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.


Funeral services for Ernie will be held on Friday (January 16, 2026) 10:00 AM at St. Maurice Church, 100 Wightman Road New Britain. Burial will follow in St Mary Cemetery, 1141 Stanley St. New Britain.
