Jane (Farrell) Holzmann of Wethersfield, Ct. passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, at the age of 100 Years Young! Jane was born to Frances (Curtin) Farrell and George Farrell on August 10, 1925. She graduated from Wethersfield High School and Hillyer (University of Hartford) before starting her job as the T.V. Guide editor at the Hartford Times. Upon the Times closing, she resumed her employment at the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Jane met the love of her life, Bob Holzmann, at a dance at the Polish Club in Hartford. Bob and Jane dated for 12 years before they married in 1972. They were married for 10 years before Bob’s death in 1982. Jane was a deeply religious person who attended daily mass at St. Luke’s Church in Hartford until it’s closure. She was an active member of St. Luke’s, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, member of the Church Council, and Social Committee as well as the Ladies Guild. In addition, Jane was a Volunteer at Hartford Hospital for many years.
She was known as “Aunt Jane” to everybody she met! Aunt Jane could cite every statistic of the Red Sox, San Francisco 49ers and UConn Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams! And she could tell the coaches what they had to do to make them better! Aunt Jane traveled extensively aboard Holland America cruise ships all over the world until the age of 90! Saint Thomas Virgin Island was her favorite!
Aunt Jane leaves behind: Nieces and Nephews Tom and Val Menditto; Lori and Paul Zisk; Diane and Vincent Teodoro; Pam and Chris Whitehurst; and Tim and Liz Kahms. Great nieces and nephews; Amanda, Paul, Megan, Tony, Heather, Danny, Mike, Lizzie, Patti, Bruce, Jimmy, Dawn, Will, Amanda, Megan, Mike, Jessica, Will, Anna, David, Andy, Felicia, and Essie. Great Grands; Wills, Iggy, Kai, Savanna, Brooke, Marena, Brianna, Sara, Natalie, Addie, Maddie, and Myles. She was predeceased by her great nephew Tony.
A calling hour will be held from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at St. Peter Claver Church, 47 Pleasant Street, West Hartford, Ct. 06107. Aunt Jane’s Cousin, the Reverend Christopher M. Ford will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.. Burial will be privately held at a later date. It was Aunt Jane’s wish that in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory be made to The Connecticut Humane Society 701 Russell Road Newington, Ct. 06111.
We wish to thank the nurses and staff of Apple Rehab in Cromwell, and Beacon Hospice, Angela and Margaret for the care they provided to Jane. Every kindness meant a great deal to Jane and her family.
