I had the pleasure to work with Melissa on NACCHO's PPOM workgroup through COVID. The first time we met in person was at my first National reviewers' meeting. She always had a smile and was very friendly. Whenever I would be at the National Preparedness meeting, I would look for her. She will be missed.

Debra and family,
I was so sorry to hear about your daughter--I met Melissa when I worked with her father Eugene many years ago at Commercial Electric--she was a little girl then. Sending my deepest sympathy and prayers.

I was in a bible study with Melissa and have only known her when she was seriously impacted by her disease. However, I can't remember her EVER being negative or completely down about her circumstances. She ALWAYS had a feeling of hope about life - her love, faith and trust in the Lord being so strong. Melissa, you have been an inspiration to many and will be so missed!!❤️❤️

Melissa and I met when she started her nursing career at Hartford Hospital as a PCA and I witnessed her transition into her new role as a nurse at the bedside! Her Cystic Fibrosis patients loved her! I remember she was always so efficient and if I ever needed help she was always so willing. I remember how much she loved her family and how difficult the loss of her dad had been for her. We often had many talks about our faith and our journey in Christ. I had accepted several invitations to visit Hillside Church several times. She put God first even at a very young age. When she was buying a place to live, I remember her telling me that she had to make sure she would have enough to tithe as well as pay her mortgage. She didn’t want to get anything that would not allow for her to tithe! I remember thinking… wow! She’s doing it right! God came first in her life! She prayed so hard about where to live and what to buy. We should all live this way.
Her sweet beautiful smile and kind soul will never be forgotten. I know she has left a lasting impression and has served as a testimony to many others as she did me. Rest in peace sweetheart. I know you’re in heaven. ❤️

Melissa was a dear friend to so many people. I'm so very thankful that I got to know her over the last few years. She has a special place in my heart.
I'll miss her as a sister in Christ, a prayer partner, a confidant, a wise counselor, a hiking buddy and a friend I loved spending time with on the phone, in the woods, on zoom and anywhere else we might be. I look forward to when we meet again!

Melissa was one of the first nurses I worked with when coming to this state. She shared her knowledge of Cystic Fibrosis with me and was always a resource. After leaving Hartford Hospital, she remained a calm voice in a storm. She was not just a coworker, she was a friend.

I will forever remember Melissa's beautiful smile. She and I entered the Capitol region emergency preparedness arena around the same time. I always knew if I needed help, Melissa would step up. How I wish that her life on this earth could have been easier and longer. She brought a special light to everything she did.
I will miss you dearly, Melissa. Rest in peace knowing that your efforts to make the world a better place speak for themselves.
