Jean “Sandy” Dickey, 79, of New Britain, died Sunday (Sept. 7, 2025) at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. Sandy was born in Manchester, raised in Hartford and lived the rest of her years in New Britain. She worked as the secretary at St. Ann’s Church in New Britain for 16 years. Prior to St. Ann’s, she worked at the New Britain Herald for many years. While at St. Ann’s Church, Sandy was in charge of the food pantry. In her spare time, she volunteered with Food Share and the Friendship Center, crocheted blankets for children in Appalachia and was an avid reader.
Sandy is survived by her son Bryan and his wife Loren Dickey, her daughter Erin and her husband Lee Kemmish; her grandchildren Damian Kempi, Ryan Dickey and Cameron DeSena; a sister Sharon and her husband Vincent Petrone and a niece and nephew.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday (Sept. 17, 2025) 9:00 AM from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church 101 North St. New Britain. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
