Obituary of Lois Charlow

Please share a memory of Lois to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lois Charlow, 85, of Simsbury, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in New Britain, Lois was the daughter of the late Francis Frederick and Lillian (Blasco) Frederick. Lois graduated from New Britain High School, earned a BA from St. Mary’s College in South Bend, Indiana, and a master’s degree from Brown. She taught English in Regional School District #10 for many years at both Lewis S. Mills High School and Har-Bur Middle School.

Lois was a mother first and foremost, not only to her children but to their many friends who called her Mom and often spent more time at her house than they did at their own. From making blackberry jam with the neighborhood kids to making roast beef grinders for crew races, Lois fed people’s stomach’s as well as their hearts and her Thanksgiving brunch table was always full.

Lois leaves her son David Charlow and two daughters, Susan Stoesser and Karen Baleshiski and her husband Darryl, as well as grandsons Steven Baleshiski and Joost Charlow and his wife Catherine, and granddaughters Lili Stoesser, Amelia Stoesser, Samantha Baleshiski, Elizabeth Baleshiski of Southington, CT, and Eline Charlow. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Charlow and her granddaughter Megan Stoesser.

Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial mass at St. Ann’s Church in Avon, CT on June 27, 2025 at 3pm. After the service, a celebration of life party will be held at 4 Maureen Drive in Simsbury.
