Obituary of Robert C. Prairie
Robert Carlton Prairie
June 8, 1992 – June 6, 2025
Robert Carlton Prairie, 32, of Griswold, Connecticut, passed away unexpectedly on June 6, 2025.
Born on June 8, 1992, in Griswold, CT, Robert spent most of his life in the area he called home. Known for his big heart, adventurous spirit, and fierce loyalty to those he loved, Robert lived his life boldly and on his own terms.
He is survived by his beloved son, Carson Michael Prairie of Columbia, CT, who was the light of his life. He is also survived by his parents, Michael Prairie of Griswold, CT, and his partner Elaine Stone and Carolyn Prairie of Westerly, RI and her partner Rick Brown; his sister, Andrea LeBlanc, her husband Aaron, and their daughter Lillian of Plainfield, CT; and his brother, Michael Prairie, his wife Caitlin, and their daughter Charlotte of Bury St. Edmunds, England. He leaves behind his cherished grandmother, Veronica Cripps of North Stonington, CT, and many friends and extended family who will deeply miss his presence.
Robert was predeceased by his grandmother, Lillian Prairie of New London, CT, and his uncle, Robert Cripps.
In the months before his passing, Robert formed a deeply meaningful bond with his Aunt Diane Ritchey of Dallas, TX. Though they were not close in the earlier years of his life, they connected later through a shared struggle and found comfort in one another’s strength and understanding. Their relationship became a powerful source of healing for Robert before her passing on Easter 2025.
A passionate paintball enthusiast, Robert found joy and camaraderie in the sport. He also loved working on cars, riding motorcycles, and expressing himself through his tattoos. His personality was as bold as his ink—colorful, fearless, and one of a kind.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held on June 22nd at 1:00 p.m. at The Music Lady Café in Moosup, CT. All who knew and loved Robert are welcome to come and share memories, laughter, and stories in his honor.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Matt’s Mission (https://mattsmission.net/) of Jewett City, Connecticut, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals battling addiction in their journey to recovery—a cause close to Robert's heart.
