John J. Lynch Obituary

John J. Lynch, 89, of Kensington, died Sunday (June 8, 2025)  at his home. Born in Waterbury, the son of the late James and Bridget (King) Lynch, he lived in Kensington for the last 58 years. He and his wife, Mary Jane, would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in July of this year.


John spent his career in sales and also worked at Hitchcock Printing. His greatest accomplishment was to have served his country as a United States Marine, as a Sergeant from 1955 to 1959, in French Morocco.  As a Veteran, John was a member of the Hardware City Marine Corps League where he served as Commandant, worked on Toys for Tots, Rose Program, Military Order of the Devil Dogs, New Britain Veteran Council,  Gen. Haller Post, Franco American War Veterans, Iwo Jima Foundation and the American Legion.


He was also an active member of St. Paul’s Church, having been a lector and served on the Parish Council and enjoyed spending time on Cape Cod with his family and friends.


John is survived by his wife, Mary Jane ( Modzelewski )  Lynch, his sister Eileen and her husband, C. Thomas Donahue of Litchfield; his nieces and nephews, Michael Lynch,  James Lynch, Bridget Girch and Shannon Egbert. He was predeceased by his brother, James F. Lynch.


Friends and family are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday (June 16, 2025) at 10:00AM at St. Paul’s Church 485 Alling St. Kensington. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Sunday (June 15, 2025) from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hardware City Detachment P.O. Box  115  New Britain, CT 06050.
