Obituary of Joan P. Schwartz

Joan P. (Lyons) Schwartz, 95, of New Britain, died peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2025 at Jerome Home in New Britain. Born in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late James and Catherine (Murdock) Davis, she lived in Berlin and New Britain and attended mass at St. Paul Church. She was the wife of the late John F. Schwartz. She worked with her husband at his business, Foxon Pharmacy in East Haven, for many years. Joan will always be remembered for her quick wit, her one-liners, and more importantly, her huge heart. The love she had for her family and friends was like no other.

Mrs. Schwartz is survived by her daughter, Robin Sanzo, a granddaughter Joy Sanzo, a grandson P.J. Sanzo and his wife, Heather, a great grandson, Wyatt Sanzo and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Robert (Florence) Davis, Raymond (Phyllis) Davis, and sister Gloria (Fred) Mongillo.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday May 28, 2025 at 11:30 AM at St. Paul’s Church 485 Alling St. Kensington. Burial will follow in Maple Cemetery, Berlin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Easter Seals Veterans Rally Point Attn: Lori Marriott. 24 Stott Avenue. Norwich, CT 06360

Joan’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks the staff of Jerome Home for their care and kindness to Joan while she was a resident there.
