
Obituary of Mary Ann Peifer
Mary Ann (Schardl) Peifer, 87, of East Berlin, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 7th. Born in New Britain, CT, She was the daughter of the late Albert & Ann (Perruccio) Schardl.
Mary Ann was a graduate of New Britain High school, class of 1956. She then went on to marry the late Frank Peifer in 1959. Mary Ann worked as an administrative assistant for UCONN health as well as Connecticut Children's Hospital. She was also a volunteer for Berlin Peck Memorial Library for many years. She enjoyed traveling, winters in Naples, Florida; knitting, reading, mahjong, and playing cards with her friends and family. Mary Ann was also a founding member of the “Rockin’ Red Hatters”. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Mary Ann leaves her three loving daughters; Margaret Olender of East Berlin, Lisa Dziegielewski and her husband Jeff of Madison, Kate Barton and her husband Glenn of Berlin; as well as her six grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as “Boo-Boo”. Michael, Kayleigh and her husband Daniel, Jeffrey and his wife Kelly, Sara and her husband Casey, Anne and her husband Theo and Samuel; Nine great grandchildren, Audrey, Natalie, Jeffrey, Winifred, Teddy, William, Benjamin, Hannah and Aaron; Two Aunts, Josie Monthei and Joan Perruccio as well as several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her special caregivers Lilia & Roman Lyutych who spent 3 years caring for her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Frank; Mary Ann was predeceased by her sister Diane Taplin as well as her niece and godchild Karen Taplin.
Her Funeral Service will be held Friday (March 21, 2025) where friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am directly at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1755 Stanley St. New Britain. Visitation will be held on Thursday (3/20) from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. Burial will be privately held at a later date.
