Obituary of Fernand Tardif

Fernand Tardif, of Berlin, CT, passed away Monday, January 27 after a long battle with dementia at the age of 84.

He was predeceased by his parents Francois Tardif, Cora Jolicoeur, and Laurette Tardif, and sisters Olivette Tardif (husband Laurier Fortin), and Francoise Chouinard (husband Marcel Chouinard). He is survived by his late daughter Sylvie (wife Dee Pliska), and sons Marco (wife Michele) and Steve, ex-wife Huguette Veilleux, and grandchildren Cooper, Jessica, and Kaitlyn, with many nieces and nephews.

Fernand was born in St. Methode, QC. He got married in Canada and worked as a lumberjack. His family moved to Maine in 1963 where he loved to fish. His family moved to Connecticut where he has been since 1969. He worked for White Oak Construction on some of the interstate's bridges. He worked for New Britain General Hospital for ten years and Stanley Works, retiring after 25 years. He was a firefighter for the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department. He loved to go deep sea fishing, bowling, and rooting for the Boston Red Sox. In his later years he would play bocce with his friends at the Italian Independent Political Club and go to the casino. He was also a member of the Monsignor Greylish Knights of Columbus council 3675.

Funeral services for Fernand and his daughter, Sylvie, will be held on Saturday February 22, 2025 at 1pm. Calling hour will precede the service from 12-1pm at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Square. New Britain. Burial will be private.
