Robert W. Sinkiewicz Obituary

Robert W. Sinkiewicz, 92, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2024, at Avon Health Center with his family at his side. Born in New Britain on March 8, 1932, Bob was the son of Walter and Helen (Mandl) Sinkiewicz. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Frances (Messina) who passed away on August 25, 2021.

Bob served in the Air Force as a Military Policeman and was honorably discharged in 1954. He was employed by The Stanley Works for 50 years in international sales.   A hard worker all his life starting with delivering newspapers and magazines while in school, Bob also worked for many years in customer service at Sears.

Bob met Frances, the love of his life, after her husband passed away leaving her with four small children. They were married on December 18, 1967.  Bob loved to drive and would often load everyone into his Oldsmobile convertible for a Sunday ride or longer vacations in Florida.

Bob loved Capitol Lunch hot dogs, Frances’ homemade spaghetti and meatballs and their little dog Princess. He was best known for telling the latest jokes to anyone who would listen.

Bob made many friends at Avon Health and the family is grateful to the staff for their compassionate care.

A beloved husband, stepfather, grandfather and great-grandfather, Bob will be greatly missed by his four children: Angelo and Patty Messina of Mystic, CT; Dr. Michael and Carol Messina of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Mary and Andy Glassman of Simsbury, CT and Richard and Beth Messina of Avon, CT; his daughter-in law Marie Messina of Jacksonville, FL; his 13 grandchildren: Christopher, Timothy, Therese, Danny, Brian, David, Sean, Amanda, Nathan, Samuel, Matthew, Olivia and Michael Angelo, along with their spouses and his eight great-grandchildren.

He leaves his sister, Janet Sola of Hamden, CT, his sister-in-law, Shirley Sapita of New Britain, CT, and many loving nieces and nephews.
