Margaret M. Roy, 91, passed peacefully on Friday, January 25, 2013 . She was born in St. Camille , Canada and was the daughter of the late Gaudias and Mary Jane Roy. Margaret resided in New Britain most of her life and more recently was a resident of The Summit in Plantsville , CT.
Margaret was employed at Landers, Frary & Clark and, retiring from General Electric, received a certificate of dedication for her years of service. During World War II she and her sister Betty worked together at Fafnir Bearing making and inspecting bearings. She was an avid bowler for many years and loved to crochet for all her friends and family. She was a faithful parishioner and communicant of St. Jerome 's Church, and a member of the Ladies of Isabella.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Mary Roy, Rose Perusse, Sister Grace Irma (Gertrude Roy), Melanie Levesque, Camille Roy, and Wilfrid Roy. She is survived by her sisters Elizabeth and Donald Messenger of Arizona , Joan Roy of West Hartford , and a brother Joseph and Denise Roy of Canada . She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins. Margaret was a real sweet lady, well liked by all who knew her and who will be missed by all, especially those who devoted their time in caring for her personal needs.
The family would like to thank the administrative and nursing staff at The Summit in Plantsville for their guidance to the family and the care given to Margaret during her stay.
Friends and family may visit on Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Square New Britain. Everyone is invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 9:00 A.M. at St. Jerome Church 1010 Slater Road, in New Britain. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jerome Church or a church of your choice, or to Resident Council Fund at The Summit at Plantsville, 261 Summit Street , Plantsville , CT 06479.
