Thomas A. Genovese, Sr., a lifelong area resident went home to Our Lord after a long illness on January 11, 2013. He was born on September 20, 1934 in New Britain, a son of the late Sebastian and Lucy Genovese. He was predeceased by a brother, Salvatore Genovese and a sister, Anna Misiorski. Tom is survived by his wife, Lorraine, his sons, Thomas, Jr. of Niantic, CT, Mark and his wife, Carrie of Bristol, CT; a daughter, Michelle Beach and her husband Edward and grandson, Eddie, of Plantsville, CT. He also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins Tom served with the National Guard for 8 years, stationed in Cape Cod, Mass. He worked as a master plumber for 35 years and was self-employed at the time of his disability retirement in 1985. In June 1992, he successfully completed a Culinary Arts Course at Goodwin Technical School in New Britain. Tom was known as a friendly, loving and sociable guy, especially at Laurel Lanes Bowling Alley where he indulged in his favorite sport. The Yankees were a close second. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 10:30 from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Square New Britain with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 A.M. at St. Peter Church 98 Franklin Sq. New Britain. Entombment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery Garden Mausoleum. Calling hours will be Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
