Obituary of Dorotha P. Casner

Dorotha P. (Porth) Casner, 63, of Berlin, died Tuesday (Aug. 28, 2018) at home. Born in Rhode Island, the daughter of the late Alvin and Estelle (Magnan) Porth, she had been a Berlin resident for 30 years. Dot grew up and attending schools in Rhode Island and graduated from East Greenwich High School in 1972.  She went on to the University of Rhode Island where she got her degree in business in 1976. Dot was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority, and stayed in touch with her sisters after graduating.  Dot was retired Senior Underwriting Analyst from Aetna after working there for over 25 years. Dot was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriot fan, when they were playing, she was watching!

Dorotha is survived by her husband William R. Casner, two sons, Michael Jeffery Casner, and Brent William Casner, all of Berlin, her sister, Susan Porth and her husband, Charles Pearson of Warwick RI, her mother in law, Gloria Casner of Berlin, two sisters-in-laws, Kathryn Casner and Dr. Ann Aresco, both of Berlin, her nieces and nephews Lisa Aresco-Smith and her husband Jeremy of Tempe, AZ,  Daniel Aresco, Jeffery Aresco of Berlin, Alicia Pearson and Alexander Pearson, of Warwick, RI.  She was predeceased by her Father-in-law Robert Casner. Dot also leaves behind a special friend Helen Hastings.

Friends and family are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday (Sept. 8, 2018) at 11:30 AM at St. Maurice Church 100 Wightman Road, New Britain.In addition, there will be a mass of Christian Burial Friday (Sept. 14, 2018) at 1:00 PM at St. Veronica Church 1035 Boston Neck Road, Narragansett, RI (Rt. 1A).  Burial will take place in Rhode Island at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
