Obituary of Francis Peifer
Francis "Frank" Peifer, 81, of East Berlin, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 12th. He was the beloved husband of Mary Ann (Schardl) Peifer for 58 years. Born in The Bronx, he was the son of the late Francis and Marion (Pecan) Peifer. He came to Connecticut in 1957 and was a New Britain resident, before moving to East Berlin in 1993. He was proud to be a United States Marine, and served his time in Japan, before meeting the love of his life, in 1958. Francis was a police officer for The New Britain Police Department retiring in 1985 after 25 years of service. He then worked as a judicial marshal for the State of Connecticut, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the American Legion as well as the AMvets. He enjoyed cooking meals for his family and spending his winters in Naples, Florida. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends, drinking coffee and solving world problems. Above anything, he loved being with his family.
Francis leaves his three loving daughters; Margaret Olender of Meriden, Lisa Dziegielewski and her husband Jeff of Madison, Kate Barton and her husband Glenn of Berlin, as well as his grandchildren, Michael, Kayleigh and her husband Daniel, Jeffrey and his wife Kelly, Sara and her husband Casey, Anne and her fiancé Theo, and Samuel. Two great granddaughters Audrey and Natalie, who he lovingly referred to as “Baby Snooks”. He also leaves behind his five siblings, Mary Loucks, John Peifer, James Peifer, William Peifer and Thomas Peifer; A sister in law Diane Taplin, His special friend, John; as well as many nieces and nephews who will all miss him dearly.
His Funeral Service will be held Saturday (March 17, 2018) where friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church 1755 Stanley St. New Britain. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain, with Military Honors in recognition of his dedication and service to his country. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain.
