Obituary of Joseph A. Pegolo
Joseph A. Pegolo, 97, beloved husband of the late Ruth (Loughery) Pegolo, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2018. Joe was born in Plainville, CT on Nov. 20, 1920 to the late Angelo and Angela (Ortolan) Pegolo. He was predeceased by his sister Mary (Pegolo) Bighinatti and brothers Alphonse and Roger. He is survived by a brother Robert (Elaine) Pegolo, sister–in-law Vivien Pegolo and several nieces and nephews including a special niece Barbara Nims and her husband Jack. During World War II Joe served as a radioman on a troop transport vessel in the South Pacific from 1943 to 1945. He was retired from Fafnir Bearing Co. having worked there over 30 years. He served as a plant manager and later as a consultant for the Georgia plant. He was a past member of the Shuttle Meadow Country Club and was an avid golfer. He was also a long time member of the Berlin Lions Club where he served a term as President. During Berlin Fair Day’s you could find Joe in the Beer Booth collecting money and doing some “directing”.
Friends and family are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday (Feb. 22, 2018) 10:00 AM at St. Paul’s Church 485 Alling St. Kensington. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Berlin’s Lions Club or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
