Raymond J. Giroux, 84, formerly of New Britain, passed away Thursday (March 30, 2017). Ray was the husband of the late Marion (Wolf) Giroux, who died Jan 12, 2017. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Alphonse and Sara (LaCasse) Giroux, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He worked at General Electric in Plainville for over 35 years. Mr. Giroux is survived by his children, Debbie McLarty and her husband Steven of Kensington, Susan Birch and her husband Jim of South Windsor, Bill Giroux and his wife Sabrina of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren Sean Haber and his wife Laura, Kristin Birch and her fiance’ Aaron Hickey, Nicholas Haber and his fiance’ Elizabeth Gingrave, Geoff Birch and his wife Elizabeth, Sarah McLarty, Courtney Giroux, Brendan McLarty, Haley Birch, Cassidy Giroux and Chloe Giroux; a great grandchild, Grant Haber; two sisters, Irene Boiczyk of Plainville, and Rita Buggie of Cromwell; two brothers, Maurice Giroux of Largo, Florida and Armand Giroux of New Britain; and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his son, Daniel Giroux and his brother, Leo Giroux. Funeral services will be held Friday (April 7, 2017) 9:00 AM from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Peter Church 98 Franklin Sq. New Britain. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Learning Disabilities Association of America at Idaamerica.org.
