Jeannette M. (Ouellette) Zdankiewicz, 94,of New Britain, died Thursday March 30th at home. Born in Epping NH, the daughter of the late Joseph and Dora (Gagnon) Ouellette, she grew up in East Berlin and was a proud member of the Class of '41 at Berlin High. She moved to New Britain in 1951 and was retired Vice President of Liberty Industries, East Berlin. She was the widow of William A. Zdankiewicz, Sr. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, their Ladies Guild, and was a past president or secretary for many of the organizations for which she volunteered. Holmes School PTA, American Red Cross, Friends of the New Britain Library, School 2 Apartments, and Franklin Square Manor. She enjoyed reading, doing cross word puzzles, counted cross stitch, Wii bowling, game nights and playing cards with her friends in East Berlin well into her 90th year. She loved to travel and enjoyed her son-in-law's cooking for OPD dinners on Sunday, visiting with her family. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Janice Rusczyk of Manchester, her sons, William A. Zdankiewicz, Jr. (Michelle) of Harrisburg, PA, Robert Zdankiewicz (Patricia) of Woodstock Valley, CT and her daughter Lynette Scapellati (Mark) of New Britain, her sister Dora (William) D'Amato of East Berlin and her sister-in-law Carol Ouellette of Vernon, 7 Grandchildren and their spouses, 7 Great-grandchildren and 1 Great-great granddaughter. She was predeceased by her son Julian (Jay) Rusczyk, her sister Helen Cugno, her brother Donald Ouellette and her grandson Nicholas Scapellati. Special thanks to her caregivers over the past year and a half, Nurse Syliva, caregivers Hyacinth and Dana. And recently her nurse Agnes. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (Apr. 5, 2017) 9:00 AM from the Farrell Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church 1755 Stanley St. New Britain. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be held Tuesday (Apr. 4) from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church Memorial Association, 1755 Stanley St., New Britain, CT 06053 or Franciscan Home Care, 267 Finch Ave., Meriden CT 06451.
