Joseph J. Piera, 62, of New Britain, died Sunday (March 5, 2017) peacefully at home. Born in New Britain, the son of Joseph A. and Frances (Senaldi) Piera, he was a lifelong resident. Joe served in the U.S. Army with the Military Police. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and proud member of the New Britain Hunting and Fishing Club. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association. He was currently employed at Safe Home Security.
In addition to his parents, Joe is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Marie (Hayes) Piera, his sons David Piera of New Britain and Steven Piera of Burlington; his sister Joanne Deegan of Berlin; his brother, Steven and his wife Jane Piera of Farmington; and several nieces and nephews, whom he adored.
Funeral services will be held Thursday (March 9, 2017) with visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and a service at 7:00 PM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
