William Francis "Red" Taylor (Aug. 6, 1928 - Oct. 20, 2016) William Taylor died peacefully on Thursday Oct. 20, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born to John and Mary Taylor on Aug. 6, 1928 in New Haven, Conn. He graduated New Britain High School, class of 1947 and went on to attend Morehead State University in Kentucky. Bill was a Korean War veteran serving with the U.S. Airforce. He then went on to serve 20 years with the Connecticut State Police. Following retirement, he was employed by J.M Ney CO. in Bloomfield. Bill was a lifetime member of the Elks Club Lodge #957 in New Britain. He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, Joan Taylor, daughters Maureen, Sheila and her husband Shawn, sons Bill and his wife Barbara, Jim and his wife Siobhann, and his 11 grandchildren. He also leaves a brother John Taylor and his wife Theresa of Plainville along with numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his sister Mary Jane and husband George Hartney. Bill was an avid Boston Red Sox and New York Giants. Bill enjoyed his weekly golf outings. Funeral service will be Saturday (Oct.22, 2016) with a mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. John's Evangelist Church 655 East St New Britain. The mass will be followed by interment in Mt. Saint Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00AM until the time of the mass at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain.
