Joseph D. Fournier, 85, of New Britain, passed away Saturday (Aug. 13, 2016). Born in Ft. Fairfield, ME, he was a New Britain resident since 1985. He was employed for many years as an iron worker, with the Local #15 in Hartford, was a member of the Local #15 Retirees, an avid bowler known throughout Plainville and Southington and he was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church. Mr. Fournier is survived by three sons, Percy Fournier of Augusta, ME, Richard and his wife Leanne Fournier of Windsor, ME, and Brian Fournier of Bristol; a step daughter June Pinto of New Britain, a step son Richard and his wife Tammy Pinto of Berlin; a special friend Emily Indomenico; four sisters, Bernice, Pearl, Gloria and Theresa; six grandchildren, five greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Elaine Fournier, July 16, 2004. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (Aug. 17, 2016) 9:00 AM from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church (corner of East St. and Newington Ave.) New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Richard Fournier, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o University of Maine, 2 Alumni Place, Orono, Maine 04469.
