Mary Ellen (Patnode) Miller 88, of New Britain, died Sunday (Jan. 15, 2017) in New Britain. Born in New Britain, the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Fitzgerald) Patnode, she was a lifelong resident. She was the wife of the late Raymond W. Miller, who died Aug. 29, 2005. A graduate of the New Britain General Hospital School of Nursing, she was an RN at the hospital and the former Farmington Convalescent Home, where she became Director of Nursing. After retirement, Mary Ellen was a volunteer at the New Britain Courts. A member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, she was also a member of the Ladies Guild and served as a Minister of the Eucharist. Mrs. Miller is survived by her son, Keith Miller of West Hartford, two granddaughters, Nicole Marie Miller and Danielle Lauren Miller; and several nieces and nephews. Friends and family are asked to go directly to church for a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday (Jan. 19, 2017) at 10:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church 1755 Stanley St. New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzhiemer’s Association 200 Executive Blvd., Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489.
