Obituary of Marianna G. Barbagallo

Marianna (Gibilisco) Barbagallo, 87, of Plainville, passed away, Friday (Jan. 6, 2017) at an area convalescent home. Born in Sicily, she lived many years in this area. She had been employed for twenty five years at Stanley Works . Most importantly, was her family; she was a loving mother to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and very supportive to her family until her last breath. Extremely hard working, she ran her own grocery store in Sicily and worked as a seamstress here. Not long after arriving in this country, she lost her husband, Paolo Barbagallo, in July 1969. She loved gardening and was an amazing cook. A member of St. Ann’s Church, she also belonged to the church choir and the Italian Club. Mrs. Barbagallo is survived by three children Paula and her husband Gary Raia of Plainville, Vito and his wife Gisella Barbagallo of Plainville and Ralph and his wife Sharleen Barbagallo of Bristol; nine grandchildren Vanessa Raia, Esther Capuano, Paolo Barbagallo, Vito Barbagallo, Maria Concetta Conrad, Doreen Barbagallo, Stefany Barbagallo, Simona Barbagallo and Marianna Barbagallo; three great grandchildren Isabella Capuano, Blandina Capuano and Maddix Boutwell; a sister Ellen Kain of Newington and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (Jan. 11, 2017) 10:00 AM from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church, North St. New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
