Obituary of Helen O'Leary Banaszek

Helen (O’Leary) Banaszek, of New Britain, died Friday (Nov. 11, 2016) at the home of her granddaughter, Samantha. Born in New Britain, the daughter of the late Arthur and Helen (Zakrzewska) O’Leary, she was a lifelong resident. She was predeceased by her husband Edward S. Banaszek, who died Aug. 29, 1998. Helen was a Licensed Practical Nurse who worked in the Oral Surgery Offices of Dr. Stephen Bosco and the late Dr. Joe B. Scully for over 38 years. She was a member of St John the Evangelist Church, the Rosary Guild, the New Britain Council of Catholic Women and served as a volunteer at Bingo for St. John the Evangelist Church. Mrs. Banaszek is survived by her son David Banaszek of Southington, her granddaughter Samantha Banaszek and fiancé Leroy Trinidad of Southington; two grandsons, Christopher and Michael Banaszek; three brothers, Richard O’Leary of New Britain, Donald O’Leary of Bristol and Patrick O’Leary of Florida; a sister Irene Fiore of New Jersey and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sons, Thomas, Michael and Kenneth. Funeral services will be held Saturday (Nov. 19,2016) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A M at St. John the Evangelist Church 655 East Street New Britain. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John the Evangelist Church.
